REQUEST YOUR DATA.

NOT READY FOR PUBLICATION. The following details are still placeholders and must be completed in lib/legal/entity.ts before launch: ICO registration number.

Email us and tell us what you want. It is free, we will reply within one month, and you do not need an account to ask.

Before you email us

If you only want to stop receiving emails, you do not need to make a request at all. Every email we send has an unsubscribe link at the bottom that works in one click, with no sign-in. That is the fastest route, and it takes effect immediately.

For anything else, read on.

Who actually holds your details

The artist whose form you filled in decides what happens to your details. They are the data controller. In A Box Records makes the software they used and stores the data for them, which makes us their processor. It matters here because it shapes what we are allowed to do on our own initiative.

If you know which artist it was and you are happy to contact them directly, that is usually the quickest route. If you would rather not, or you cannot reach them, send the request to us instead. We will pass it to the artist, follow it up, and make sure it is dealt with inside the one-month deadline. We will not leave you chasing it.

What you can ask for

All of these are free, and none of them require you to give a reason:

  • —A copy of everything held about you, in a file you can read.
  • —A correction, if something on record is wrong.
  • —Deletion of your details.
  • —A pause on any use of your details while a complaint is looked into.
  • —An objection to your details being used for marketing. This one we must always honour, with no argument.
  • —Your details in a portable format you can take somewhere else.

How to make the request

Email [email protected]. The button below opens a message with the useful questions already in it, so you only have to fill in the blanks. If the button does not work on your device, just email the address above and tell us what you want.

Please send it from the email address you signed up with if you still have access to it. That is the simplest way for us to be sure the request is really yours. If you cannot, tell us and we will find another way to check, because we would rather make you prove who you are than hand your details to somebody pretending to be you.

What happens next

  • —We acknowledge your email when we receive it.
  • —If we need to confirm who you are, or we are not sure what you are asking for, we come back to you. The one-month clock starts when we have what we need.
  • —Where the artist is the controller, we tell them and act on their instruction. If they do not respond, we chase them, because our agreement with them requires them to cooperate.
  • —We reply within one month. If the request is unusually complex we may need up to two further months, but we will tell you inside the first month if that happens, and why.

Two things we cannot delete on request. Unsubscribe and abuse-report records are kept, holding no more than your email address and the fact you opted out, because they are what stops you being emailed again by mistake. Deleting them would defeat the point. And where we are required by law to keep something, we keep it, and we will tell you if that applies to any part of your request.

If you are not happy with our answer

Tell us and we will look at it again. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113, and you do not have to come to us first.
