Capsule.O is a fine album project by Geno, with serious UK hip hop / rap undertones. From laid back beats and poetic lyricism, to uptempo, hype, real-talk and hard-truths. Consider it a showcase of talent and execution direct from the UK capital.

Stress

Opening track Stress is laid-back and reflective, offering a place of solace and inner awareness. A story of struggle to distract away from one's struggles. As we all carry the emotional weight of stress as we seek to understand ourselves and navigate life's challenges. Softened with silky smooth keys and an oakwood smoked beat that will return your mind to that warm, comfortable place by the fire. An intriguing and sensitive introduction to a multifaceted project.

Flex

It’s time to turn up. In contrast to the album’s intro, Flex raises the tempo, turning chilled vibes into undeniable heat, wicked flows and extreme focus. Instrumentally paying homage to 90s gangsta rap, with wonky lead synth motifs and taught strings that inject energy and attitude. Resolutely UK though in terms of delivery, substance and lyrics, which describe a determined daily hustle.

Queen of Hearts

Featuring a broken hip-hop beat and bouncy piano sample with a vintage lofi vibe, Queen of Hearts returns to a conversational vocal style. An expression of frustration in love. Detailed in execution with smooth vocal flows, symbolising those moments of confusion caused by conflicting feelings and manipulation. Raising the need for space and reflection to escape the negativity and manifest a creeping desire to refocus, renew perspective and re-find confidence alone.

4TakeFreestyle

Opening with some atmospheric synth bells, deep bass layers and a detailed trap beat. 4TakeFreestyle goes back to basics with some elements of grime. Exposing the raw talent of Geno who’s laid down some serious bars. Revealing a confident, carefree and versatile artist who can do both. Embroiled with some well placed production cuts and vocal edits that segment and add colour.

CR7

CR7 embodies the spirit of unwavering determination, ambition and the journey to greatness. Portraying the relentless pursuit of success and the burning desire to prove oneself at the highest level. Facing off against lacking self-belief, defeatism and self deprivation, whilst balancing perfectionism and egotism. Overcoming the emotions that hold us back, doubling down on the ones that take us closer to our goals, no matter how high.

State of Mind

Taking things back to smooth, old-school vintage vibes, crunchy snares, resampled hi-hats, piano loops and exceptional lyricism. State of Mind enjoys a sweet, feel good energy and stands to represent a return to a peaceful state of mind. As the rollercoaster of ups and downs can pull our emotions in all manor of directions, this track speaks of the basic human need to return to the comfort zone and relax from time to time.

Same Stuff

As a closing track to the Capsule.O album, Same Stuff brings us full circle with an appropriate summary. Besotted with wavy keys straight from the vinyl, cool beats and a devilishly catchy hook (one of the only hooks throughout the album) that resonates the core message. We often journey through emotions, pursue opportunities and win successes only to return to the relentless daily struggle, with different problems and the same constant yearning for more.
